- What would I
do?
Every man woman and child would get a $500
tax credit on the purchase of a very good bicycle. Then I would
declare all weekends to be official ride your bike days. Better
than that I would ask for every town and city in the US to
permit activity in the Parks that would be a mix of physical
activities and live music. For instance, softball games, touch
football, group walks and runs around the local high school
track etc... Horseshoes, Bocci Ball, Basketball
and Live Music featuring your communities musicians. All Spring
Summer and Fall. One other suggestion that we all reach out and
try to meet someone new every day. Plus the days fun would all
revolve around Family and a Picnic.
10 year goal to get 75% of Americans to give up the
commuter lifestyle. Work and Live in your community. What better
way to start than just by hanging out in your community, see
what we discover.
I would like to see some new designation for Americans
who are
being fairly peaceful with the Earth. That they would not be
subject to Federal Income Tax for any income earned of or under
$100,000 per year. I am not sure how we would define that or
enforce it but just another one of my 'brilliant' ideas. People
who are slowing it down in their lives are doing something great
for all of us and they deserve a reward.
The concept is basically to live in a No Problem manner,
quit stressing, quit trying to place blame anywhere else but our
own lifestyle choices. (Wouldn't that be great if I could live
like that) Then let's make some good choices not because we are
saints, ascetics, progressives etc. but simply because these
choices will make all of us happier people.
Whatever course Americans take in the next 20 years we
will be going through a transition here. The best way through
the rough seas is always to point directly into the waves. The
metaphor is about honesty and responsibility. What do I do with
my Life?
A civilization that is protected and secured by it's peaceful relationship
with Nature. That is the bottom line as I see it.
