What a great show
last Thursday night at the Dixon May Fair up on Highway 80 towards
Sacramento. My friend Vikki Lee and her Pinecones were playing up on
the big stage ..headlining. They deserve it...
Whoops! Wrong well actually it was the small stage but
it was a fine stage. ...and well there was this other band their
that night and they were the ones headlining and they are a rather
well known band called Heart. That's right.
Anyways now its Saturday night and I have an urge to get out
of the house again
so I am not going to write out the whole story here.
Just imagine you have the stage to play about 300 yards away
from this world-famous band that are playing at stadium level
volume. To be honest there were not a lot of people wandering around
the fair that Thursday evening most everybody who was there were at
the Heart show. The Pinecones had their work cut out for them and
their was all kinds of weirdness floating around where people put on
the event and don't even know you are playing and issues with a
check etc... it was a bit of an ordeal. Flying colors..! What a
great band, the Pinecones Rock!

here are two clips from the night. Note you don't get
to play with the band Heart every day.
the
first is the Pinecones version of a tune written by a band
called Highway 101.
the
second is written by an English musician named Albert Lee,
who occasionally is found playing with the Pinecones in funny little
joints and some pretty big ones too, somewhere in California.
Listen up and enjoy.
Great performances all the way around. Russ Whitehead
did his awesome Muleskinner Blues. Bob Woods sang lead on a few
tunes and my God what is Albert gonna say! Jeez Bob you were on
fire! Michael Jarrett added a couple of fine vocals on Money Honey
and ahh that Ray Charles tune.. Chris Ivey, pedal steel...
virtuoso... in my book.
Vikki the force is with you! Rising to the occasion. Plus all backed
up by the great Heart.
Nancy and Anne
invite me to a show someday and I will write you up too!
